No one wants a smudged look when they are on a date or in a job interview. Many struggle with having their eyeliner drift away from their eyes throughout the day. Do not ditch this type of makeup, follow the three tips and tricks below to prevent your eyeliner from smudging.
1. Prime and Set
It is so important to use primer and setter. Primer can go on before putting on the eyeliner, and setter can go on after. You should know, as Meghan Trainor says, “It’s all about that bass.”
It is perfectly okay, and actually is what you should use, to use an eyeshadow primer. Put this on the base of your eyelid where you will put your eyeliner. This will allow for the liquid eyeliner to stay where it belongs.
Setter should then be applied. You can use a variety of items as setters including translucent powders and neutral, skin-toned eyeshadow. Using both of these together is like a miracle worker for your liquid eyeliner. No more smudging on your eyelids tonight; use both of these items to get the most effective results.
2. Use Your Skin Type
Skin type is utilized for foundation and other types of skin-based makeups. Eyeliner is surely feeling left out. Be sure to utilize your skin tone when thinking about applying your liquid eyeliner.
Your skin type might just be the reason your eyeliner is smudging. If the two are not suited for one another, the eyeliner will try to run off. We want a great relationship between the two, not a harsh one.
If your skin is oily, do not use soft liquid eyeliners. These often contain more oils. Examples of these types of eyeliners include kajal pencils and whipped gel. Thankfully, these are not liquid eyeliners, but it does not hurt to know. Make sure your skin is dry before utilizing liquid eyeliner as well.
3. Layer Products
It is okay to use multiple eyeliners. You can layer the products to make them last longer. The eyeliners will not become run off when they have other liners supporting them. Use pencil eyeliner first, then layer it with liquid eyeliner on top.
When following the layering tips, be sure you are utilizing the same colors. It will not be very attractive if you utilize a blue pencil liner and black liquid liner. Be sure the two colors can blend together well to give you the most effective, smudge-proof results.
